This is an absolutely stunning vintage Geoffrey Beene monochromatic burgundy dress and coat ensemble! The strapless dress is a beautiful wool, and the coat is fuzzy alpaca. We especially love the black ruffled, pleated grosgrain satin inserts throughout the lush alpaca fabric on this unique sweater coat.

The dress is strapless with wire bust "boning." The inside built in bustier is smaller than the outer fabric so that the strapless dress looks loose on the body but everything is held nicely in place. There is a hook-and-eye closure with a metal zipper down the back center seam.

We love vintage Geoffrey Beene pieces and always grab them whenever we come across them. We acquired quite a few pieces from the Geoffrey Beene archive, including the sister outfit to this ensemble that walked the Fall/Winter 1999 runway with it! here.
